Economic Development

Overview

Martinsville's Economic Development efforts are directed by the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation, led by CEO Mark Heath. He is assisted by a team of professionals in tourism, small and minority business development, marketing, research, and development.

Our staff of economic development and municipal officials works with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission, U.S. Economic Development Administration and other state and federal partners to maximize incentives for companies wanting to do business in Martinsville and Henry County.

The city and surrounding communities have a large pool of available labor, many trained in new skills after textile and furniture closings. The city's unique location offers attractive options for transportation and distribution companies as a central community within 40 miles of the new FedEx hub being constructed in Greensboro, North Carolina.
