Purchasing Department
Responsibilities
The Purchasing Department coordinates the procurement of materials, equipment, and services. This division is responsible for making authorized purchases, performing related purchasing functions, including securing of bids with recommendations for acceptance or rejection, and awarding bids according to established policies.
Central Warehouse
The Purchasing Department also maintains a Stores operation at the Central Warehouse to keep supplies on hand to facilitate the day-to-day operations of departments.
Central Garage
The Purchasing Department and the Central Garage are responsible for the centralized control and disposal of excess, obsolete and salvageable materials and equipment.
GovDeals
The City of Martinsville has selected GovDeals to conduct online sales of surplus equipment and assets. Items for sale will be posted continuously on the web. Bidders can register free of charge at GovDeals.com.
