Responsibilities

The City of Martinsville’s Inspections staff is charged with the enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code in its most current edition.

Permits

Permits are issued based on what work is being done, not who is doing the work. More information on what requires a permit can be found at Permit Information.

Contractors

While we can not recommend or endorse any specific contractors, our office can provide you with a list of contractors that have obtained permits recently. We do verify contractors have the proper licensing and insurance to obtain permits. Email Tammy Davis or call 276-403-5173 for that list.
