Fire Chief Dan Howell joined the fire service in 1987 as a volunteer and became a career firefighter in 1996 as part of Martinsville Fire & EMS.
Chief Howell has been with Martinsville Fire and EMS for 28 years and was promoted to Fire Chief in 2023.
Chief Howell obtained his Master’s Degree in Business from Averett University and graduated from the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer program.
Howell has numerous fire service-related certifications, including completion of the National Emergency Management Advanced Academy.
