Public Safety: Maintain a Safe Environment for City-Henry County Residents

Activity

  1. The MPD will be fully staffed December 1, 2017. 6 officers currently in the academy to graduate end of March 2018 (Guy Cassady - November 13, 2017)
  2. MPD Recruiting process is currently underway. The application period closes on June 16, 2017. (Sean Dunn - June 14, 2017)
  3. MF & EMS utilizes a part-time program to help maintain a minimum staffing of seven. We also use this as a hiring pool. Although this is well below what NFPA and many others recommend, we make that work within the budget available. (Teddy Anderson - July 12, 2016)
  4. MF & EMS has a well-developed career development plan. The plan provides has an easy-to-follow path to acquire the necessary education and experience in order to be eligible for promotions. These criteria are also used during our promotional processes. (Teddy Anderson - July 11, 2016)
  5. MF & EMS takes advantage of any opportunity to promote and solicit candidates for future openings. Job fairs and public events are seeking to educate the public on opportunities for a career with our department. (Teddy Anderson - July 11, 2016)
  6. The MPD has developed a Recruiting Committee comprised of sworn and civilian employees to brainstorm and deploy best practices and innovative approaches to recruiting candidates to better mirror our community. (Sean Dunn - June 21, 2016)
