Activity

  • There are currently 40 active Neighborhood Watch Groups in the City of Martinsville (Guy Cassady - November 13, 2017)
  • MPD attended Senior Health Fair in May and annual "Seniors and Law Enforcement Together", SALT, picnic in June. (Sean Dunn - June 14, 2017)
  • MPD and several local agencies hosted an anti-bullying event to promote citizen and youth engagement on March 2, 2017. (Sean Dunn - March 3, 2017)
  • The Police Explorer program has held two out-of-town field trips. The first was to the International Civil Rights Museum in Greensboro, NC. The second was to the Natural Bridge Zoo in Natural Bridge, VA. (Sean Dunn - October 24, 2016)
  • In an effort to engage our youth and reach a diverse section of your community, the School Resource Officers (SRO’s) established a Law Enforcement Explorer program within the Martinsville City Schools. (Sean Dunn - October 24, 2016)
  • Establishing the explorer program in the schools will enhance police/student relationships and encourage compliance with school regulations and mentoring or troubled youth. (Sean Dunn - October 24, 2016)
  • The MPD and MFD, in partnership with citizens and other agencies, held their first annual Public Safety Day on September 28, 2016. This event afforded our community the opportunity to meet their public safety and community health personnel. (Sean Dunn - October 24, 2016)
